FLORENCE - Mary Calivas Brown, 83, of 2226 Eaton Circle, died early Saturday morning, October 24, 2009 at her residence after a brief illness. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery in Darlington.
Mary was born in Darlington Co., SC a daughter of the late Bill and Louise McKee Calivas. She attended Bethany Free Will Baptist Church and the Ruby Lee Vause Sunday School Class. She was devoted Christian who loved the Lord. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Morris Andrews and second husband, Dempsey Haselden; sister, Kathleen Bethea.
Surviving are her husband, Duane Brown of the home; children, Morris H. (Allison) Andrews of Florence, Frank S. (Darlene) Andrews of Madison, TN, Dale S. (Iris) Andrews of Darlington, David B. (Debra) Andrews of Hartsville, and Elaine A. (Harold) Via of West Minster, CA; step-daughter, Diane Brown of Florence; 17 Grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Calivas of Lamar.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, 4071 Creek Rd., Timmonsville, SC 29161.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
