"This community of chantry priest was afterwards enlarged by Sir Robert Clifton, as we find a licence granted in 1476 by King Edward IV to Sir Robert Clifton and Gervase his son and heir, to found a college in the chapel of the Holy Trinity, within the parish church of St. Mary at Clifton."
