Marjorie Ann Swisher passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at her home in Chesterton, Indiana.

She was born May 12, 1942 at St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, Ind., to David Carlson and Mabel Carlson, both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph R. Swisher; a son Jeff (Shelly) Swisher and a daughter, Tamara (Frank) Shea. Also, grandchildren Jordan Shea, Bree Shea, Arielle Shea, Karen Swisher, James Swisher and Brandon Shea and great-grandchildren Addisyn Swift and Zander Ekdahl; and her brother Wendell (Mary) Carlson.

She was also preceded in death by granddaughter Kyra Compion.

Marjorie attended the Pines Elementary school, was a graduate of Chesterton High School in 1960 and subsequently attended Taylor University. She worked in Chicago at the America Four Insurance Company before becoming personal security to the head of purchasing at Bethlehem Steel. Prior to the birth of her first child, she retired and began to work at home for Who's Who.

Marjorie attended Liberty Bible Church of Chesterton all her life. She worked in various capacities: church clerk, leader of Pioneer Girls, and for years was involved in the children's ministry as a teacher and nursery worker. She was a long time attendee of Women's Bible Study and for years a sponsor, with her husband, of The Loyal Soldiers youth group.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, Ind. Internment will take place at the Angel Crest Cemetery in Valparaiso, Ind.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd St., Chesterton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, P.O. Box 1272, Valparaiso, IN 46384.
