JEWELL GRACE SHARPLESS GODWIN

Jewell Grace Sharpless Godwin was born August 13, 1920, in Walnut Hill, Florida to John Castle and Mattie Lala Sharpless. She passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 20, 2004. Jewell Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67-years, James Oliver Godwin. She was a loving mother, an adored grandmother to 6 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Left also to mourn are her two dear brothers; her three sisters .

Those who knew her were touched by her cheerful nature and quiet generosity, and will sadly miss her.

She was a graduate of Atmore's Escambia County High School and in her senior year was chosen the first "Miss Atmore". Grace was a member of Warrington Baptist Church for over fifty years, where she was a Sunday school teacher.

The family wishes to acknowledge close relatives and friends, Covenant Hospice, Council on Aging of West Florida, whose unique and special contributions helped to fulfill her desire to remain in her home during her declining years.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 1:30 PM, with the funeral at 2:30 PM at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, 1322 S. Main Street in Atmore, AL. Burial will be at The Oak Grove Cemetery Escambia County, Florida.
