Her big sister describes her best of all:
I want the whole world to know how amazing my little sister is! She is a:
drama queen
zookeeper
forensic scientist/CIA agent in the making
genius
goofball
entertainer
musician
dreamer
comic
poet
friend
daughter
sister
my sister
and she is so much more.
Alissa loved the Lord with all of her heart! Her favorite time of year was what we called the Thorn season when she participated in our church's Easter production called The Thorn. It was a family activity that was looked forward to the rest of the year.
Alissa was a gifted and talented student in school and had many talents which included playing the piano, trumpet and French horn. She participated in other church and school activities as well.
In January 2005, Alissa caught a virus which may have actually been influenza. March 12 she started having seizures, she had never had them before. The doctors felt that the virus from January may have stayed in her blood stream and eventually went to her brain. We don't believe she ever really knew what hit her, she was in a drug induced coma from the day after the seizures started until we made the difficult decision to take her off of life support on May 8, 2005 (Mother's Day). She passed away the next day. The brain damage from the seizures was extensive.
We believe that Alissa is dancing in heaven, rejoicing in the presence of her Lord...while we miss her more than we can say, we take comfort in knowing where she is and that she is forever safe and happy. We also have the hope of seeing her again someday...
Thank you to everyone that has visited this page and left flowers or some other token. Blessings to you all!
A special thanks to Mary for some of the cute pictures she has made for Alissa!
