Mary Alice Cook Byrd
Mrs. Byrd, 85, of Charlotte died at Carolinas Medical Center on Thursday, July 27, 2006.
She was born on August 4, 1920 in Lancaster County, SC daughter of the late Manley and Mary Banks Cook. A Dental Assistant for Dr. Ralph Campbell until her retirement, she was also a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Judson Amos Byrd, whom she knew all her life and her grandson, Cameron Scott Paxton.
Survivors include her son, James Steve Byrd and wife, Helen of Charlotte; daughter, Judy B. Paxton and husband, Richard; sister, Betty Shannon and husband, William of Matthews; granddaughter, Kristin Paxton Shaw and husband, Mike of Gastonia. Also surviving is a great granddaughter, Paxton Mareth Shaw.
Graveside service for Mrs. Byrd will be held in Sharon Memorial Park on Saturday, July 29, at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Stan Heiser officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203 or Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
