J. U. Cottingham, a native of West Bellevue died from injuries received in a railroad accident on last Wednesday night at Lafayette. The remains were brought to Opelousas on the Southern Pacific Thursday evening, interment being made in the Protestant cemetery.

Young Cottingham was 30 years old and was a member of a well known St. Landry family. He was born and raised on a farm a short distance from Opelousas.
