Noah Brown Denton was the son of Joel Denton 1759 and Sarah Brown. His parents lived in Amenia, Dutchess County, New York (1790 census). By 1820 his parents had moved to Middlefield, Otsego County, New York.

Noah married Penelope Covell, the daughter of Richard Covell 1765 and Penelope West. The couple moved to Covington, Batavia, Genesee, New York by 1820.
