William the 1st had two families...one in his early 20's and the other in his 50's and 60's. A total of ten children, many of whom did well in life and many of whom met with difficulties. Harriet died at just over one year from the fever. Walton died in his early 40's of diabetes. William, Irene, Jim, William, Corrine, Lisa, Helen and Deborah all lived productive lives.

William had 20 grandchildren.

At one time he had two sons, from different mothers, named William Steven Van Natta. He also had a grandson William Steven Van Natta, so for about a decade there were four William Steven Van Nattas running around New Jersey.

William was a brakeman for the New Jersey Central Rail Road and became a bartender in his retirement. He also spent many years in the merchant marines and traveled the world. He had a very endearing personality typical of the Van Natta clan. Unfortunately his health declined and he spent the last two years of his life in the hospital with complications from diabetes.

William was the father or James B, Irene, William, Harriet, Deborah, Walton, William, Corrine, Helen and Lisa. He had twenty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, (and counting) and two great-great grandchildren. (And counting.)
