MRS. MARY E. DAVIS DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Mrs. Mary E. Davis died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Winget, in Leonard, after a long illness. Death was due to cancer from which she had been a sufferer for a number of years. She had been bedfast since Christmas Day.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Christian Church in Shelbyville, conducted by Rev. F. M. Branic. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
Mrs. Davis, formerly Mary E. Kenning, was born Nov. 17, 1856, at Shelbyville, Ind. She came to Missouri when 9 years old and the greater part of her life was spent in Shelby county. In 1875 she was married to George W. Davis, who preceded her in death. To this union was born seven children, five of whom are living: W. A. and J. W. Davis, of Shelbyville; Mrs. Earl Gaines, Mrs. E. N. Gerard and the daughter mentioned above, of Leonard. She also leaves one brother, G. E. Kenning, of Burlington, Iowa, and 17 grandchildren.
She united with the Christian Church at Hagers Grove when a young girl and continued in that faith until her death.

Gravesite Details
Mary has an unreadable homemade stone under the big tree in the far south end of the old part of the Shelbyville cemetery.
