Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer on 26 Apr 1855 p3: "DEATH OF MRS. HAMLIN---The decease of this most estimable woman took place yesterday afternoon, after a lingering illness of many months, which she bore with fortitude and resignation. She died with christian calmness. Beloved by all while living, her death will be deeply mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Hamlin was the eldest daughter of Judge Emery of Oxford county. She married and removed with her husband, the Hon. Hannibal Hamlin, to Hampden, where they have ever since resided. During her residence at Hampden, her gentle disposition and kindness of heart won the love and esteem of her neighbors, and all who knew her. In all the relations of life she proved herself an excellent woman, and affectionate wife and a kind mother. It is seldom any family is called upon to mourn so great a loss. [Bangor Mercury of the 18th]"
