Sarah Blackmore, age 88, passed away on November 18, 2011 at a Scott & White in Temple, Texas. She was born on February 24, 1923 in Maplesville, Alabama, the daughter of Jasper and Verdie May (King) Perry.

Sarah met her husband of 66 years, Donald D. Blackmore, while they were both serving in the military. Mr. Blackmore preceded Sarah in death on January 21, 2011. She is survived by her son, Ron Blackmore and wife Rhonda of Elgin; daughter, B.K. Warren and husband Sam of Pflugerville; grandchildren, Tara Stewart and husband Joshua, and Bodie Warren and wife Stacey; and great-grandchildren, Kyra, Aiden, and Calen Stewart and Reagan Warren. She is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Davis, Vivian Bice, Patty Headley, Joanna Sims of Alabama and Peggy Porter of Georgia. She is also survived by many other loving family members and dear friends.

Family was important to Sarah and her extended family included associates from both "old and new" Seton hospital, where she was employed for 20 years in the surgical area. Known as "Momma B" to her family and to many of her friends, Sarah never met a stranger. She loved to entertain and turned the simplest family gathering into a celebration. Sarah was known and loved for her southern hospitality, charm and delicious southern cooking.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, 907 W. Lake Drive, Taylor. Interment with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to First United Methodist Church in Taylor.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Nathan Cohen, to the staff of Scott & White and to Heatherwilde Assisted Living, and to Hannah Slaughter for their loving care and support.
