He was born in Reinwald, Samara, Russia on 3 December 1878. In 1902 he married Maria (Gross) Zitzer and voyaged to America with his bride, however, he was denied entry because of tracoma, an eye condition. Peter and Maria then sailed to Argentina and lived there until he recuperated. While in Argentina, Peter Jr. was born. Finally, in 1904, the family was admitted into America and settled in Sheboygan.
Most of his life he was employed by the C. Reiss Coal Company as a teamster driving first a horse drawn coal wagon and later a truck. He retired in 1941. He was a member of the Volga Aide Society. His wife preceded him in death in 1953.
Survivors include four sons, Peter Jr. of Sheboygan, Fred of South Bend, Ind., David of Seattle, Wash., and John of Sheboygan; two daughters, Mrs William (Emily) Brom and Mrs. Joseph (Emma) Conrad both of Sheboygan; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son and a daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Ballhorn Funeral Chaples, the Rev. Kenneth Krueger, pastor of the Fountain Park Evangelical United Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will be made at the family lot in the Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Ballhorn Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral Services for Peter Hartmann were held Friday afternoon at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Kenneth Krueger was in charge of the service and the burial at the Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were William and Richard Hartmann, Joseph and James Conrad, William Brom and George Banks.
