Widow of a former Washington physician, Mrs. Freer died early today at a local nursing home after an illness of several months.
In recent years, Mrs. Freer had lived in Arlington, Va., with her stepson, Gorham F. Freer, Washington patent attorney. She came to this city many years ago with her parents, the late Judge and Mrs. John S. McCalmont of Franklin, Pa. Her father held an official position here under President Cleveland.
Besides her stepson, Mrs. Freer leaves two stepdaughters, Miss Florence Freer, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. J. Lawrence Gilson, Irvington, N.Y., and a brother, James McCalmont, of this city.
Funeral services and burial will be at Franklin tomorrow afternoon.

Mrs. Elizabeth McCalmont Freer, a member of one of the early families of Franklin, died at her home in Washington, D. C., Monday morning, and the body was brought here today for interment in the Franklin Cemetery.
Mrs. Freer, widow of the late Dr. James Freer, a prominent Washington physician, was a daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. John S. McCalmont, who were prominent residents of Franklin for many years. She spent her early life here, and was a frequent visitor in the city during the many years in which she resided in Washington. The present Franklin Library building was the former home of the McCalmont family.
Mrs. Freer had been in ill health for several years and had been seriously ill for two weeks prior to her death,
The body arrived from Washington this morning, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gorham Freer and Mrs. Lawrence Gilson, of Washington. Mr. Freer and Mrs. Gilson are children of the late Dr. Freer. Interment in the Franklin Cemetery followed burial services. Mrs. John McCalmont Wilson, of Pittsburgh, was among those attending from out of the city.
