Protracted Illness is Fatal for Much Loved Young Woman. Burial Is Today
A beautiful life ended at sundown on Monday with the passing at the family home, Maple Valley, in the Glenellen community of Miss Polly Allen, which followed seven years of impaired health during which she had maintained the courageous fortitude and cheerful disposition that characterized her early life. Three years of her illness were spent at Wautaugua hospital where Miss Allen was known as "Polly Sunshine." All efforts for restoring her health were futile, and through the years she grew weaker and weaker until Monday evening when death claimed her.
Among those who ministered most devotedly to Miss Allen was her sister, Miss Kate Allen, a constant attendant at her bedside during the periods of her illness spent at home, ever ready to respond to any and every call to render her comfort and make her waning life as peaceful as possible.
Miss Allen was the daughter of Fountain P. Allen, and Mrs. Mollie Sterger Allen, who survives. Seven brothers and sisters also survive.
Mrs. Allen was indeed a beautiful character and shared a family devotion seldom surpassed.
