Esther Martha Offer, 97, of Springfield died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at St. John's Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1907, in Bluffs, the daughter of William and Pearl Bedell Cassell. She married Louis Frederick Offer in 1926; he died in 1995.

Mrs. Offer was a seamstress at June's Bridal Shop. She was a member of the Postal Workers Auxiliary, National Association or Retired People and Laurel United Methodist Church, where she was a former organist and was active in women's groups and quilting groups.

Survivors: a daughter, Alice (husband, Zane) Beck of Springfield; a son, Robert Paul (wife, Mary) Offer of Port Charlotte, Fla.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth (husband, Ken) Love, Thelma Cline and Betty Jean McHenry, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: Staab Funeral Home, Dr. John P. Hamilton officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.
