Chico Daily Enterprise, Friday Evening, March 3, 1922: "William McClard Called By Death. Five days after having celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary, William Thomas McClard, 77, died at his home, Eighth and Magnolia, Chico Vecino yesterday afternoon.

"Deceased was a native of Kentucky, where he was born May 25, 1844. He had resided in California since 1886. He was a widely known and highly respected resident. He was a prominent member of the Odd Fellows. He was a veteran of the Civil War.

"Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fetters & Williams undertaking parlors. Rev. Marion McCart, former pastor of the local Baptist church and now pastor of the Ceres church, will officiate at the parlors. Interment will be made in the Chico cemetery where the Odd Fellows will be in charge of ceremonies.

"Surviving are the widow, Elizabeth McClard; two sons, Charles of Chico and W.B. of Oroville; two daughters, Mrs. A.B. Bruce and Mrs. Nellie Woodward, both of Chico; 16 grandchildren and two great grandchildren."
