Lena Ruth Aiken, 88, died Thursday. The native of Warsaw, N.C., was married to the late James Ewell Aiken of Statesboro for 62 years. They lived for years in Tampa, Fla., where she was active in musical organizations and taught piano until her retirement in 1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Kerlin, Raleigh, N.C.; two granddaughters, Patricia Ann Kerlin and Annette McBrayer, Atlanta; four brothers, Matt Blackburn, R.T. Blackburn, and Woodrow Blackburn, all of Warsaw, N.C., and Walter Blackburn, Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and two sisters, Mary Lillie London, Key Largo, Fla., and Attie Pearl Blackburn, Miami, Fla.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Raleigh, N.C., with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesboro, Georgia.
