He attended Millsaps College in Jackson, and was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity. He then moved to Key West Florida, and was working as an accountant for the Navy Station, before entering the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant, serving as an aviator during World War II.
Married Victoria Elizabeth Cherny on 7 Apr 1946 at the United Methodist church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
They moved to Glendale, where he worked as a Design Engineer for a precision instruments company, and Elizabeth worked as an accountant for a pharmaceutical company, before he was recalled to service during the Korean War. His military awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with six Stars, and Purple Heart.
He earned his MBA from the University of Southern California. He worked in the digital computer field with Librascope and Honeywell.
Survived by his wife of 55 years, son and daughter-in-law, Clifford Jr and Teri Reina, and granddaughter Bailey.
