71, of Harlingen entered into rest Wednesday, March 24, 2010. He was born in Mattoon, Illinois on April 28, 1938. Mr. Bence worked with Lloyd Bentsen, Sr of Mission and L&B Partnership for over 35 years. He was also owner of Bence Nursery of Harlingen for over 45 years and a real estate developer in the Rio Grande Valley. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Lee Bence of Harlingen; 2 sons, Leon Scott Bence and Travis Lee (Sheila) Bence a grand-daughter, Ava Linda Bence all of Harlingen and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dilbert & Bernice Bence and 2 sisters, Margaret Roytek and Ellen Buckley.
Visitation will be held Friday from 10am to 9pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 27, 2010 departing the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 1:30pm for a 2pm service at 1st United Methodist Church with Pastor Eddie Valverde officiating.
Entombment will follow at Heavenly Grace Cemetery. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly.
