She was born August 4, 1889 in Waupaca County, the daughter of the late August and Wilhelmine (Dordell) Gast.
On October 28, 1904 Meta was united in marriage to Otto Keckhaver in the town of Almon. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1946. On June 12, 1948 Meta married Arthur Baerenwald in the town of Almon. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Arthur, survivors include one daughter, Bertha (Russell) Long, Wittenberg; three sons, Paul Keckhaver, Green Bay, Emil Keckhaver, Wausau and Lester (Betty) Kickhaver, Milwaukee; 28 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alvina (Edward) Branan, Birnamwood and Tillie (August) Dordell, Marion; and three brothers, Charles Gast, Shawano, Emil (Emma) Gast, Birnamwood and Fred Gast, Menasha.
In addition to her first husband and parents, Meta was preceded in death by a son, Roy Keckhaver and a brother, Gustave Gast.
Funeral services were held February 7, 1962 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Aaron Stoehr officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
