Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with prayers recited at 5 p.m.
Doris was born July 25, 1927, in Greenfield, to Carey and Bertha (Kirby) Rhoads. She married Theron L. Jennings Sr. on March 25, 1947, at Central Church of Christ in Streator. He died April 6, 1974. She later married Anthony A. Garncarz on June 19, 1982, at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. He died Jan. 27, 2009.
She worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Streator, owned and operated the Hamburger Inn in Streator and later worked at Bakelite in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa and past president of the VFW Auxiliary post 1492 in Streator.
She is survived by five children, Terry (Jill) Jennings of Ottawa, Gary (Marcia) Jennings of Whittier, N.C., JoAnne Prusynski of Seattle, Wash., Roger (Tina) Jennings of Whittier and Debbie Jennings of Ottawa; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John (Byrl) Rhoads of Godfrey, and one sister, Helen VanHyning of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Theron; second husband, Anthony; one son, Gerald Jennings; one grandson, Brian Prusynski; one granddaughter, Tamra Williams; three sisters, Katie Handling, Mary Housewright and Betty Wilson; and two brothers, Carl and Robert Rhoads.
