Anthony A. Garncarz, 85, of Ottawa, died at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Ottawa Regional Hospital, Ottawa.

Mr. Garncarz was born July 11, 1923 in Peru to Valentine and Bellanda (Murawski) Garncarz. He married Marguerite McPhail on December 5, 1946 in Holy Family Church, Oglesby. She passed away on February 24, 1980. He married Doris L. Jennings on June 19, 1982 in St. Columba Church, Ottawa.

He was in the United States Army from 1943-1945. He was a manager at REA Express Trucking Delivery for over 20 years. He worked at IL Valley Cartage in Peru as a rate manager. He was a member of St. Valentine's Church, Peru.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of Ottawa; three daughters, Lesley Duttlinger of LaSalle, Monica Templeton of Lakeway, Texas, and Debb (Jim) Ladgenski of Spring Valley; five step-children, Terry (Jill) Jennings of Ottawa, Gary (Marcia) Jennings of Bryson City, North Carolina, JoAnne Prusynski of Seattle, Washington, Roger (Tina) Jennings of Bryson City, North Carolina, and Debbie Jennings of Ottawa; 28 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary (Ben) Rosinski of LaSalle; and a special friend, Paul Kmitta of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marguerite; a sister, Theresa Goebel; a brother, Valentine Garncarz; and a step-son, Gerald Jennings.

Pallbearers: Andy Duttlinger, Joshua Duttlinger, Luke Ladgenski, Dana Jennings, Dion Jennings, and Gary Jennings.

Mass of Christian Burial: St. Valentine's Church, Peru with Rev. Harold Datzman, OSB officiating.

Burial: St. Valentine's Cemetery, military rites by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group.
