Burton C. Ice, 87, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born August 10, 1922, in Evansville.

Burton was the oldest of 12 children. He was a Class of 1940 Reitz High School graduate and a member of Salem UMC for 50 years. He was a veteran, serving during WWII. He was a tool designer for Benerson Corporation for many years. He volunteered at Patchwork Central and the Food Bank. He loved to travel to Florida, and fish with his relatives.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Leggett.

Burton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma J. Ice; daughters, Diane Leggett (Robert), Deborah McBride, Laura Beck, Robin Riley and Kim Anderson (Scott); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, Curtis, Ray and Michael Ice; sisters, Shirley Marlett and Burtie Ward; and many nieces and nephews.

Services 1 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at Salem UMC, 6311 Kratzville Road, officiated by Rev. Randy Anderson, with burial in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, and Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem UMC Building Fund, 6311 Kratzville Road, Evansville, IN 47710. Arrangements by Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road.
