Bernice Evelyn Bobbett, 89, 1119 Jackson Ave., died at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Mrs. Bobbett was born Dec. 27, 1906, at Franklin, Neb. She was a 1925 graduate of Franklin High School. She moved to Joplin in 1946 from the state of Oklahoma. She taught in rural school districts for three years. She was a saleswoman at Sears in Joplin for 13-1/2 years, retiring in 1968.

She was a member of Byers Avenue United Methodist Church and the 50/50 Sunday School Class. She was a member of Ruth Chapter No. 177, Order of Eastern Star. She had been an Eastern Star member for 49 years.

She married Oscar Vandruff on Nov. 29, 1927. He preceded her in death. She married John McGuire in 1951. He died in 1955. She married Edward Bobbett on June 27, 1960. He died Dec. 29, 1981.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Beck, Franklin, and a grandson.
