Enlisted as a Private on 16 August 1864 at the age of 18 in Company F, 8th Cavalry Regiment Ohio on 16 Aug 1864. Was Captured by Confederate troops on 11 Jan. 1865 in what is today Beverly, West Virginia. Sent to Richmond, VA. where he contacted Typhoid. Was traded in a prisoner exchange but died at the US Army Hospital in Annapolis MD.
