Solomon Deputy, the youngest son of Joshua and Mary (Woods) Deputy, was born in Jefferson County, Indiana, March 12, 1831, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. F. Graham, August 15, 1913, aged 82 years, 5 months, and 3 days.

He was married to Lucy Lawrence September 16, 1852. To this union seven children were born, four boys and three girls, six of whom are still living. His wife died at their home in Woodbine, April 7, 1903.

[CIVIL WAR] He enlisted in Company E, 3d regiment M. S. M. volunteer cavalry on March 29, 1862, and was honorably, discharged April 3, 1865.

The children are, Mrs. B. F. Graham, Woodbine; Mrs. Martha Dale, Logan; Mrs. Mary Macomber, South Sioux City, Nebr., and Francis A., Charles W., and Oscar, of Central Creek, Nebr.

The funeral services were held Sunday at the Methodist church. The crowd was large, showing the respect of the people for a life well lived among them. He was much beloved by all who knew him.

The G. A. R. and ladies of the Relief Corps attended as a body and their beautiful service was read at the grave. The family wish to thank all who have so kindly assisted them in their hour of need.

The above obituary was taken from the Woodbine Twiner. For many years Mr. Deputy owned and lived on the farm now occupied by Nephi Snively, and was well known to many of our readers.
