Mrs. Mary I. Blair dies
Has been in ill health for a number of years
Mrs. Mary Isobell Blair, 83, a resident of Pittsburg died at 1:45 O'Clock in the afternoon at Tanay Convalescing Home, 202 East Park. Mrs. Blair, who has been in ill health for the last three years, has been at home for about two weeks. Before being taken to the Tanay Home she had been a patient at Mt. Carmel Hospital for nine months. She had been bedfast for the last 18 months.
Mrs. Blair was born February 20, 1868 in Ottumwa, Iowa. On December 23, 1886, she married Porter M. Blair. The couple moved to Delaware where they lived for a while before coming to Pittsburg in 1908. Mr. and Mrs. Blair celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1936. Mr. Blair died in 1037. Until her health could no longer permit her living alone Mrs. Blair remained at the family residence, 912 West Second.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and the G. A. R.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lillis Simmons of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Lola Fleeher of Osawatomie and Mrs. Gertrude McAnally of 1610 North Grand. Her sons, Henry W. Blair, Pittsburg R. R. 3; Ira E. Blair of 1003 East Ninth; Charles C. Blair of 503 West Forest; Edward C. Blair of Chanute and Fred E. Blair of 614 West Martin; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Endicott of Joplin and Mrs. Louise Sale of 108 West Sixth Street. Two brothers, William Carey of Merino, Colorado and L. J. Carey of 1014 East 10th. There are 23 grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 O'Clock Monday afternoon at the Ellsworth Chapel. Doctor Lloyd H. Rising will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery. The body will be taken to the home of a son, Charles C. Blair, 503 West Forest at 2:00 O'Clock Sunday afternoon. It will be returned to the chapel at 10:30 O'Clock Monday morning
