Peter Brackett, one of the few living sons of a soldier of the Revolutionary war, and one of the best known of the local Civil war veterans, died Monday night at his home, 45 Prospect street, following an extended illness. His condition had been critical for the past several days. Mr. Brackett was a familiar figure about the city until his recent illness, being very active for his age and daily visitor to the G.A.R. hall in city building, where he served as caretaker for some time, being one of the most active of the members. He attended the Three-Quarter Century club meeting at Augusta last year and was one of the most active in the gathering. . . . He is survived by one [adopted] daughter, Mrs. Eva Smith, with whom he made his home, and several nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Hill Street Advent church. Friends are invited to attend. Biddeford Daily Journal. Biddeford, York County, Maine. Tuesday Evening, April 5, 1927, Page Six.
