Alberta was born in Deerfield, Wisconsin, the youngest of eleven children. Following her father, the family moved to Canada and she was named after the province they were to reside in. Alberta married in 1937 and raised two sons. Not only was she a homemaker, she worked for the City of Calgary at the General Hospital.
After Art's death, Alberta moved to British Columbia where she was closer to her sister.
