Katrina Malafa married Matej Tupa in Bohemia about 1873 and together with their young son John came to America on the ship "Rhein". They first settled in Spillville, Iowa and then in the early 1880's came by wagon train with other Bohemian families to settle in Prairie Center Township and the present village of Vesleyville.
