Funeral services for Edith May Akers, 97, a former resident of Mojave, were held at the Halley-Olson Funeral Chapel in Lancaster on Nov. 1.
Mrs. Akers was born May 4, 1879, in Newport, Kentucky, and passed away on Oct. 28 in a Lancaster convalescent hospital. She lived in Mojave from 1969 to 1971, and then lived in Baldwin Park for a year before becoming a resident of the convalescent hospital. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Mojave.
She is survived by a daughter, Thelma M. Welch of Mojave; two sisters, Geraldine Boyle, Kansas City, Mo., and Kattie Sanders, Whittier; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Rev. Earl Jones of Palmdale officiated at the 2:00 p.m. services, with interment following at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster.
