Sandra L. 'Sandy' (Smith) Boyer, 62, entered into rest unexpectedly at 7:27 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. She was the wife of Robert A. 'Bob' Boyer whom she married September 10, 1966. Born in York March 21, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Mirrel I. (Bonsell) Smith. Sandy graduated from Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing as an RN. She retired from Lincoln Intermediate Unit No. 12 after 35 years of teaching. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of York where she formerly taught Sunday School. She was a member of York Chapter No. 169 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past Matron. She served as District Deputy Grand Matron for the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania and was a past Grand Officer, serving as Grand Martha. Sandy was currently an Elected Grand Chapter Committee member serving on the Fraternal Committee of the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania. She was also a member of First Capital Red Hat Society and of the Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court No. 106 Order of the Amaranth. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Ruth I. Lehman of York and Carol J. Erbe of Lebanon; sister-in-law Barbara Grumbine of West Lawn; mother-in-law, Anita Minnich of Shoemakersville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Hildebrand; and two sisters, Alma Borsa and Marjorie Guilbeault. Eastern Star service Wednesday by York Chapter No. 169 at Burg Funeral Home, Red Lion. Service at First Presbyterian Church Thursday, her pastor, Rev. Dr. John E. Morgan, officiating.
