Services for Ray W. Johnson, 79, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Sunrise Church of Christ in Lubbock with David Peebles and Michael Park both officiating. Burial will follow in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr.
Johnson died Saturday, June 21, 2003, in Lubbock.
He was born April 7, 1924, in Denison to Jesse Jackson Johnson and Sarah Ellen Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy as 3rd Class Petty Officer from 1941 until 1947. He married Joanna "Jo" Conway on Sept. 27, 1948, in Dallas. He moved to Lubbock in September of 1955 from Levelland. He was a retired barber and later was employed by the City of Lubbock and Avis Rental Cars. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Sunrise Church of Christ in Lubbock.
