Dixie J. Ackelson of Fort Collins, Colo. passed away Oct. 30, 2013. Dixie was born in Hoxie, Kan. to James and Bertha Townsend who later moved Fort Collins where she grew up. On Nov. 6, 1948, Dixie married Ernest Ackelson and later became the proud and devoted mother of her four children. As a resident of Laporte, Colorado Dixie stressed the importance of her Christian faith to her children in addition to attending Bellvue Baptist Church, and later continued her devotion at the Front Range Baptist Church after relocating to Fort Collins.

Dixie was a proud homemaker, who, in addition to cooking many homemade delights such as noodles, found the time to make clothes for all four of children with her expert sewing skills. She was also extremely fond of the big band music of the 1940s, which was made evident to those who often witnessed her dancing around the family's home. Dixie always worried about her children, which increased her continuous expressions of unconditional love and her thorough enjoyment of her entire family.

Dixie is survived by her Husband, Ernest Ackelson; Sons, John (Kimberlee) Ackelson of Arvada, Colo. and Rocky (Arlene) Ackelson of Swink, Colo.; Daughter, Robbin Clary of Fort Collins, Colo.; thirteen Grandchildren, and 25 Great Grandchildren.

Dixie was preceded in death by her Parents, James and Bertha Townsend, her Son, Richard Ackelson, four Brothers, and two Sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Allnutt Drake Chapel in Fort Collins. Interment will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Fort Collins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Front Range Baptist Church, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 West Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
