Elizabeth Poston was born to Richard and Ann Campbell Poston in Virginia. She came to Indiana with her husband and children about 1820. She is buried with her husband and several of their children in Connersville's City Cemetery. Her uncle, William Campbell, is known as the hero of the battle of King's Mountain, considered to me the turning point of the Revolutionary War. Wm. Campbell was married to Elizabeth Henry, sister of Patrick Henry.

Died In this place, on the morning of the 22nd last, after an illness of two weeks, Mrs. Elizabeth Tate, in the 80th year of her age.
Mrs. Tate was born in Hampshire County, Virginia, August 14th, 1780, and came to Connersville with her husband, the late John Tate, Esq., in the year 1822, and has resided here ever since. She was an exemplary member of the Methodist Church for more than sixty years. She leaves several children (among them Joseph T. Tate, our County Treasurer), to remember her many virtues and mourn the loss they sustained by her death.
