Five Mile Cemetery is a rural cemetery about five miles north of the Village of Allegany (formerly Burton and Humphrey) in the Town (township) of Allegany, Cattaraugus County, New York. The cemetery is on Church Road which crosses Five Mile Creek and intersects Five Mile Road (County Road 19). The cemetery was first used for family burials in 1826 on the land owned by the pioneer settler Freeman Wilber and was known as "The Wilber Burial Ground". Multiple generations of Wilber descendants are buried there. On May 17, 1840, Freeman and Mercy Wilber sold their burial ground to the Five Mile Cemetery Trustees, to be preserved by trustees for the use as a managed cemetery. The Cemetery was then known as the "Wilber Cemetery on Five Mile". By January 10, 1907 the cemetery was still referred to as "Wilber Cemetery on the Five Mile" in obituaries. Today the cemetery is listed on Find a Grave as "Five Mile Cemetery". The land is now deeded to the Five Mile Cemetery Association of Allegany. The cemetery is open to the public during daylight hours. Visitors will find the cemetery is well maintained and active with modern burials. There is an access road off Church Road on level ground with adequate room for parking along the road to visit graves.
