Bill Ward was the second child of five children of Walter Wilson and Jane Lane Ward. He grew up in Rosenberg, Texas. He became a dental surgeon and they lived in San Antonio, Texas.
He married Nelda C. Hopmann of Beasley on July 25, 1943. They lost one infant daughter in 1945. They reared one daughter, Cynthia Ward Welkos and a son, Dr. Gary Bill Ward.
Bill Ward passed away on December 15, 1993 & it is believed that he is buried next to his wife in the Mission Burial Park North in San Antonio, Texas.
