Search High Hill Cemetery:

High Hill Cemetery is located about 2 miles east of Saratoga about 1/2 mile north of Highway 73. The cemetery is in a pasture and is unfenced. All the tombstones are knocked over and some are broken.

The Plum Creek Christian Church was founded in 1875, and they met house to house until a school/church house was built at High Hill. In 1888, the people began to move to present day Saratoga to get out of the blackland mud and for better water. The school/church house was torn down in 1904.

The latest known burial was John Erwin Spates in 1924.

DO NOT ADD RECENT BURIALS TO THIS CEMETERY – PUT THEM IN SARATOGA CEMETERY IN HEMPSTEAD COUNTY WHERE THEY BELONG. Some confusion has resulted from the fact that the town of Saratoga is in Howard County, but Saratoga Cemetery is across the county line in Hempstead County.
