Add PhotosThe burying-ground was at the site of what was Hunter farm. At least 25 people were buried there. Hunter farm was among two other farms and was in an area from the Susquehanna to Catawissa road in Sunbury (perhaps now Catawissa Ave).
(Catawissa road noted as starting at Market Street in Purdytown.)
A grave-yard, it was located on the river bank, 200 yards above Fort Augusta. It was midway between the southern end of the Philadelphia and Erie Railroad and the Hunter mansion.
Change in the ownership of the property described on page 58 of the book titled, "Otzinachson: Or, a History of the West Branch Valley of the Susquehanna; Its First Settlement, Privations Endured by the Early Pioneers, Indian Wars, Predatory Incursions, Abductions, and Massacres, Together with an Account of the Fair Play System; and the Trying Scenes of the Big Runaway; Copies of Curious Old Documents, Biographical Sketches of the Leading Settlers, Together with anecdotes, statistics, and much valuable matter entirely new", by J. F. Meginness, published in 1889.
