This eventually denied the doctrine of the Trinity and those who still believed the doctrine moved to Back Street in 1736 and in 1754 built what was called the Little Meeting House, later named Emmanuel Baptist Church. From 1779 – 1809 Nathaniel Rawlings was Pastor at Emmanuel. When he died in 1809 the church at Emmanuel called Richard Davis from Liverpool to be their Pastor. But he preached different doctrines than Nathanial Rawlings and this divided the Church. The members who maintained the original position of Emmanuel Church seceded and started to worship in the Bonded Warehouse on Wicker Hill, Trowbridge. It was this group of people who called John Warburton to be their Pastor in April 1815 and a year later built for themselves and their new Pastor the Zion Chapel in Union Street,Trowbridge. It was from this church that The Halve Church seceded in 1896. (https://www.thehalvechapel.org.uk/history/)
