Lenier Cemetery
Bulloch County, Georgia, USA
From Bulloch County, Georgia Cemeteries, Vol. 3:
"From Statesboro go out U.S. 80 west to Portal. From the post office in Portal continue on 80 for 1.6 miles. Turn right at the first paved road. Pass Pleasant Hill Church on the left. 3.3 miles from the turn off 80, turn right onto the first dirt road. There are no other roads to the right. This is a small field road. There's a telephone post just at the road with 1258 on it. Take the road for .9 of a mile. Cemetery is in the back field to the right about a mile across the field in a clump of oaks. It is very difficult to reach. The tomb-stones are cement. There are cement blocks around them and a broken wire fence around the blocks. The property is owned by Mrs. Claude Cowart.
"Surveyed 7 April 1981 by Mrs. William Starling and Mrs. Lawrence B. Kelly, Chairman."
In the above description, the right turn after Portal is onto Pleasant Hill Road.
The right turn onto the "small field road" is onto Tru Fail Crossing Road.
Cemetery is not really a mile across the field, it's more like a half mile.
Note: The Bulloch County, Georgia Cemeteries documents list a Lanier Cemetery and a Lenier Cemetery in Bulloch County, two different cemeteries in two different places. Each has memorials with names that match the spelling of the cemetery name. There's a dam and reservoir just west of this cemetery named Lanier, but it's possible that resulted from a long-ago misspelling.
