The first school of the district was the St. Peter's School No. 1031. organized in 1899. The tract of land for the school yard was bought from Mr Peter Hiebert in 1899 and was located on the SW corner of the parcel NW-15-4-12(-W1). In 1908, land was bought from the Ritz family and the school was moved to the NW corner of the NW quarter of section 1-4-1-W1. It remained there till 1922 and then again was moved. This time land was acquired from Mr. Carl A. Recksiedler. The new location was the NE corner of the NW quarter of section 1-4-1-W1.
There was another school in the district as well. It is said to have been a private school first. later becoming public. It also operated under the name of St. Peter's SD 1031. It was situated on the SE corner of the SW quarter of section 22-4-1-W1. It too was moved and relocated on the SW corner of SW quarter of section 23-4-1-W1 in 1929.
This time the old school house was remodelled into a teacherage and a new school was built. In 1929, the school board held a special meeting and it was decided that the district be divided with the school on section 23 retaining the name St. Peter's SD 1031 and the school on section one being renamed De Wet SD 2182. In 1940, a new school was built at De Wet and the original first school was sold.
St Peter's 1031 closed in 1957 and the De Wet School in 1967.

A part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1980 is told in the volume "Furrows in the Valley - A Centennial Project of the Rural Municipality of Morris 1880 - 1980", especially starting on page 487. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
Additionally, the Manitoba Mennonite Society curates and makes available extensive records related to the communities established by the families of their faith who contributed to the story of Manitoba.
