Per "Collection of inscriptions from church yards and private burial grounds from Port Republic to Somers Point" by Joseph Moore and Miss Sarah A Risley, notation is made on page 109 (in Volume 2) that "...about 200 feet Northwest of the Shore Road and probably 50 or 75 feet Northeast of Ocean Avenue, Somers Point, was located what was known as the Richard Steelman Burying Ground. Ocean Avenue is the first avenue or street southwest of the dividing line between Somers Point and Linwood. There was formerly a clump of willows standing there. Amongst those known to have been buried there are Richard Steelman, grandfather of Richard S. Steelman who died in 1911, aged 86 years. [Also buried there was] ____ Parker, son of Judith Parker." This book was compiled/typed in 1921 by Miss Sarah A Risley for the Atlantic County Historical Society. Link to the book:
