Add PhotosLocated on Bishop Street, beside the Cathedral, on the former grounds of the Presentation Convent. The Community was founded 10th May 1835 after receipt of a legacy from William Burke, Esq., a Dubliner who lived in Currylea, who died in 1834 and by his Will provided for the establishment and endowment of a Convent of the Presentation Order in Tuam. It was not until July 1848, that the foundation stone of the Convent was laid. The building was completed on the 8th September 1849. The schools were built in 1852. When the new Primary School was opened in 1956 the Cemetery had to be relocated to its present position to accommodate it on the site.
