This is a very small and unusual cemetery. The story goes that black people were buried here a hundred years ago, but it couldn't have been many because the cemetery is a small flat area on the side of the hill, and is about 40 feet by 75 feet. But in 1972, the Trent-Smith Funeral Home, catering to Negro's, buried 4 people there that we know of. This funeral home was only in operation for a couple of years, 1972 being one of them. No one in the area remembers any burials taking place there that year, or any year, but the newspaper states that they were. Where the name "Forest Hill Cemetery" came from is another mystery, as no one in the area is familiar with that name. Another strange thing is that a man named "Ollie Winbush" was buried here in 1972. I discovered the location of the "Winbush Cemetery" only a week before finding this one. It too was a Negro cemetery but located 15 miles away in St Albans WV. The Winbush name HAS to be connected, so why was he buried here? There is only one Maker in this tiny cemetery, and it is unreadable.
