The first wife of Augustine Herman is considered to have been the first ("or certainly one of the first") to have been buried in the graveyard which Augustine Herman had laid out in his vineyard on his home plantation. By 1888, the graves had been obliterated, with only the stone for Augustine Herman left at some distant place to view.
