Recorded Dec 5, 1931."
According to Franklin Garrett, there are two unmarked graves in this cemetery; John Abernathy, and his deceased wife, Rhoda. "Both are marked by large rock slabs over masonry to form box tombs. A large cedar tree formerly stood at the head of each grave, but they are long dead and only the stumps remain."
"According to W.H. Mitchell, an old resident of the locality, the graves are those of John Abernathy and his wife Rhoda. Mrs. Cates, of near Cross Roads Church, a granddaughter of John Abernathy, also identified the graves. She told the compiler that her grandfather was 84 when he died, but she was unable to even approximate the year of death."
"Note by the compiler: John and Rhoda Abernathy were the progenitors of the Abernathy Family in North Fulton County."
Franklin Garrett (deceased) is Georgia's well-known Historian. He is known for riding around on his bicycle and recording the Atlanta Cemetery and Graveyards inhabitants on a note pad in the early 1930s.
