The cemetery was established about 1834 with the first burial on the land. In the same year, Rev. Henry Gordon was inducted as the first minister of the Presbyterian congregation which became known as St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. It was often referred to as St. Andrew's Eversley or Eversley Presbyterian Church in order to distinguish it from several other St. Andrew's Presbyterian churches in King Township. Early services were held in a small log cabin on the cemetery property, which was used as both a church and a school. In 1843, property owner Joseph Wells sold the land to the church congregation. The log cabin was replaced by a stone church in 1848 which was used by the congregation until 1958 when it was closed. The congregation amalgamated with St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church at Strange (which also had a cemetery named St Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery) to form King City Presbyterian Church, and the cemetery at Eversley was closed for further burials at the same time.
Lady Flora McCrae Eaton, owner of nearby Eaton Hall Estate Farm, purchased the church and cemetery in 1960. In 1967 Lady Eaton donated the church building and the cemetery to the York Pioneer and Historical Society. In 2012 the Society sold the church building to a private owner and it was renovated for use as a commercial office.
Rev. John Tawse, who served as minister from 1834 to 1860, is buried in the cemetery with his 3 wives. Henry Frost, credited with originating music education in schools in the Province of Ontario, was the teacher at Eversley School in 1850 and 1851 and is also buried here.
In 2009 the cemetery was designated as a property of cultural heritage value under the Ontario Heritage Act, 1990.
