The earliest known burial was Agness Stewart, maiden surname Scott, wife of Henry Stewart, who died on 19 September 1854.
A Presbyterian Church was built on the land next to the cemetery and the first service was held on 24 September 1859. The church and cemetery were closed in July 1912, and the church was converted to a private residence. In 1971 the former church building was dismantled and rebuilt at another location to preserve it from demolition for road widening purposes.
The headstones and monuments mark the graves of Henry Stewart, his wife Agness Scott Stewart and their descendants and in-laws, which are the only known burials in the cemetery. The last recorded burial took place in 1898.
Temperanceville Presbyterian Cemetery was designated as a heritage site under the Ontario Heritage Act on 30 November 2009 and is now owned by the Township of King.
It is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bathurst Street and King Road. It should not be confused with the Temperanceville United Church Cemetery, which is located on the northeast corner of the same intersection.
